The Walking Dead: Series Final Cast & Crew Photo Reveals Possible Return of Major “Grimes” Family Member

That concludes The Walking Dead.

AMC announced on Thursday that the landmark zombie series has wrapped filming on its 11th and final season.

“That’s a wrap. 11 seasons 12 years. Never been so beat up and it was an absolute blast. Thank you to all of you that took this ride with us, and what a ride it was,” star Norman Reedus tweeted.

The cast and crew gathered to commemorate the end of production in the photo below.

One curious person in the photo is non other than Chandler Riggs, who played Carl Grimes on the show. Can you spot him? Could this mean the return of Carl for the series finale? Also rumored to have appeared on set is non other than Michonne aka Danai Gurira.

The finale for “Part 2” of The Walking Dead‘s supersized farewell run will air on AMC Sunday, April 10. “Part 3” will arrive after Fear the Walking Dead finishes airing Season 7; the spinoff’s midseason premiere is set for April 17 on AMC/AMC+.

The series finale will air later this year.

The Walking Dead has seen record-breaking success since its 2010 debut, when it attracted 5.4 million total viewers on Halloween Night. The season five premiere, which aired in October of that year, drew north of 17 million viewers. (That season as a whole averaged 14.4 million.)

The Walking Dead‘s conclusion was only the beginning of the series’ vast universe. Fear TWD has already been renewed for Season 8, and several additional spin-offs are on the way.

In 2023, AMC’s Isle of the Dead will follow Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie as they venture into “a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.” The crumbling metropolis, according to the synopsis, is filled with “the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own.”

On the near side are the Walking Dead anthology and the yet-untitled Daryl/Carol spinoff, which is scheduled to premiere in 2020. There’s also a movie trilogy starring Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead that will “resume the story of Rick Grimes.” That was announced more than three years ago, and a brief teaser has been revealed the films were on their way.
