The Walking Dead: Season 3 Mistake – The Governor Wears His Signature Costume Piece Wrong

The Walking Dead has been full of some awesome villains over the years.  Yet, none may be more evil and unpredictable than The Governor (David Morrissey).  We’re continuing our series of fun little blunders on The Walking Dead. These are things that we all missed but it’s fun to go back and point out.  This time, this little error belongs to The Governor.

In Season 3, Episode 11, “I Ain’t A Judas,” The Governor has asked Milton (Dallas Roberts) to keep an eye (no pun intended) on Andrea (Laurie Holden), as he suspects she’s up to something.  The Governor is inspecting his healing eye socket, which Michonne (Danai Gurira) so kindly gouged out.  As he is doing this, he’s looking into the mirror and removes his bandages.  The bandage is on his left eye (the text in the image improperly refers to the audience’s point of view).

Now you may be saying, that’s just that way because he’s looking into the mirror.  However, it’s not.  Because as he’s doing this, the camera is actually directly on him and we then see Milton walk in on the left.

As Milton comes into frame to the left, then the camera changes angles and, magically,  The Governor’s eye patch is now on his right eye (the text in the image improperly refers to the audience’s point of view).

The right eye is the proper placement for the eye patch and that is where it would remain until The Governor was killed.

David Morrissey’s portrayal of The Governor is one of the most fantastic performances ever on the show.  The Governor’s tension and feud with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) may be the best exchange between a villain and a hero on The Walking Dead. Neither party ever backed down from one another.

Watch this classic scene from the first time the two encountered each other!

The Walking Dead returns on October 4 at 8 p.m. for the Season 10 finale, with new episodes expected in early 2021.

  1. It was a mirror. If you look at the first picture, you can see a little bit of The Governor’s head. It’s clearly a mirror. But i will say i thought that was a mistake too when i first watched it.

  2. And it is in fact a mirror because of this. Say i look in the mirror and there’s a cut underneath my right eye. It WOULD LOOK like it’s actually under my left eye bcuz obviously it’s mirrored, so it’s basically flipped. But it’s actually under my right eye. I hope that made sense
