Morgan Jones’s Journey on Fear the Walking Dead Comes to an End

Morgan Jones’s story on Fear the Walking Dead came to an end in the midseason finale, “All I See is Red.” The episode saw Morgan go on a killing spree after the death of his wife Grace, and he eventually decided to leave the show in search of Rick Grimes.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lennie James, who plays Morgan, said that he was “sad” to see his time on Fear come to an end, but he was also “excited” to see what the future holds for Morgan.

“I just wanted to make sure that we earned the right to go back there,” James said of Morgan’s journey back to his past. “That the story we were telling in the present was worthy of us dipping into the past. The history of the characters in the universe are so vital to who they all are.”

James also said that he was “excited” about the possibility of Morgan meeting up with Rick again in the upcoming Rick and Michonne Walking Dead series.

“Morgan has set off in one direction and ended up going in another on more than one occasion, so who knows?” James said. “He left a message for Rick, but he could go roaming out there and bump into Daryl or Maggie and Negan… or none of the above and just be left to see out his days walking the apocalypse with his kid!”

Whatever the future holds for Morgan, James said that he is grateful for the opportunity to have played the character.

“It has been my pleasure and honor to count myself among the amazing cast, crew and storytellers that bring FTWD to life,” James said.
