‘The Walking Dead’: Lauren Cohan Reveals a Major Spoiler About Maggie’s Fate

It looks like Lauren Cohan has a lot more to say about her upcoming exit from The Walking Dead! While a lot of the focus at 2018’s San Diego Comic-Con was on Andrew Lincoln’s exit, Cohan has started opening up more about Maggie’s departure from the series as well. Cohan recently spoke with EW about the future of her character saying that “Maggie’s story is open-ended,” but now she’s letting us know exactly what that means – and when we say exactly, let’s just say this is what her face looked like after she revealed the spoiler.
While appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Cohan took a moment to address her exit once again, confirming that season 9 may not necessarily be her final season.
And she also reiterated her comments to EW once again about her story being open-ended.
“It’s zombies, anything could happen,” Ripa says. Then Cohan further clarifies her point by breaking the number one rule of Walking Dead interviews and casually drops the news, “I don’t die. We’re just exploring.” It’s unclear whether or not Cohan meant to reveal that much, but we got quite the kick out of her face right after she did.
For starters, we are extremely happy to hear that Cohan won’t be saying goodbye to Maggie Greene forever as she’s been playing the character on The Walking Dead since way back season 2. We’ve watched her go from the doting farmer’s daughter to the fierce leader of the Hilltop, and when news broke that Cohan signed on to star in ABC’s upcoming dramedy Whiskey Cavalier fans feared the worst. Cohan’s comments also mirror Andrew Lincoln’s who has been pretty elusive as to the fate of Rick Grimes as well.

We are beginning to think that Cohan and Lincoln’s comments could possibly be setting up a story where both Maggie and Rick leave the series together without meeting their deaths. What do you think? In the meantime, while we wait for season 9 of The Walking Dead to premiere in October, you can catch Lauren Cohan alongside Mark Wahlberg in their upcoming action film Mile 22, which hits theaters next weekend on August 3, 2018.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
