“The Walking Dead” Jeffrey Dean Morgan on Hypothetical Negan vs. Governor Battle

Within The Walking Dead universe, it was pretty difficult to imagine anyone that was more terrifying than The Governor.  Brilliantly portrayed by David Morrissey, The Governor terrorized our group of survivors throughout seasons 3 and 4 with just the right mix of crazy and a whole lot of dangerous.

In the season 6 finale, we were introduced to a brand new terror, Negan.  Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s performance was completely on point and, for the first time, we saw our survivors not only in a vulnerable state but, with no way out.  The look on Rick’s face when he first encounters Negan is unforgettable.  Negan and his men are smart, organized and vicious.

Hypothetically, what would happen if these two villains met for an all-out blood bath within The Walking Dead universe?  Who would win in a battle between the Governor and Negan?

Entertainment Weekly asked Jeffrey Dean Morgan that exact question and his answer isn’t surprising.  He replied with the utmost of confidence:

“It’s not even close.  I mean, I love David Morrissey, but he wouldn’t stand a chance. Wouldn’t stand a chance. I’d put Negan up against anybody. He’s super smart and there’s no filter, no fear. The Governor was a little bit whack. Negan’s got it together. It wouldn’t even be close. And I’m sorry, ‘cause I really love David. He’s awesome. I worked with him for a year and there’s just not a better guy. But Negan versus the Governor wouldn’t be close.”

We’re pretty sure a certain someone else might have a whole different take on the hypothetical show down.
