The Walking Dead: It’s Official. The Show Will End After Season 11

All good things come to an end.  The Walking Dead will end after its eleventh season.  There will be two spinoff shows, one that will feature Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) and an anthology series that will follow various series.

“It’s been 10 years ‘gone bye;’ what lies ahead are two more to come and stories and stories to tell beyond that,” said franchise overlord Scott Gimple in a statement. “What’s clear is that this show has been about the living, made by a passionate cast, team of writer/producers, producers, and crew, bringing to life the vision put forth by Robert Kirkman in his brilliant comic — and supported by the best fans in the world. We have a lot of thrilling story left to tell on TWD, and then, this end will be a beginning of more Walking Dead — brand new stories and characters, familiar faces and places, new voices, and new mythologies. This will be a grand finale that will lead to new premieres. Evolution is upon us. The Walking Dead lives”

Added showrunner Angela Kang, “I look forward to digging in with our brilliant writers, producers, directors, cast and crew to bring this epic final chapter of Robert Kirkman’s story to life for our fans over the next two years. The Walking Dead flagship series has been my creative home for a decade and so it’s bittersweet to bring it to an end, but I could not be more excited to be working with Scott Gimple and AMC to develop a new series for Daryl and Carol. Working with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride has been a highlight of my career and I’m thrilled that we get to keep telling stories together.”

We’ll report more as we get it and continue to update.  It’s a sad day in the world of The Walking Dead.

  2. What’s going to happen to all the other characters on TWD that’s not getting a spin-off. Are they all dying? Will miss this show, but excited for The World Beyond, Fear , the new Daryl and Carol spin-off and Rick Grimes movies. Will Fear end to when TWD does? When will Rick’s movies start?

  3. I hate to see it end,i’ve been a fan from the start. I am excited that you are going to do a show with Daryl and Carol they were my favorites. I guess Covid 19 claimed something else I loved

  4. Say it ain’t so I will miss my Sunday night’s amc I’m always watching I have six seasons on dvd and Netflix shows all seasons thanks so much rick, dearly, mochone,Carl, negan, walker bait #glen,Maggie everyone

  6. This sucks. Dont even know if I will watch anymore. They really are wrong for this and will loose alot of fans

  7. I will be sad when this show ends. I have watched ever show since it’s been on. I will continue to watch any spin offs if you and when you start any. Love to all, Sally

  8. I am just heartbroken too here that this will be the final season of the walking Dead. But I am excited about the upcoming premier of Darryl and Carol . I will always be a fan.

  9. So sad,but we all knew it was going to come to an end at some point,to go somewhere else evolve into something else,it couldn’t ride the same train, each character good and bad has been amazingingly brought to life for us all ,in the story lines, those wonderful characters fulfilled exactly what was needed in every episode of The walking Dead, and it would not have been successful without each of them,… Gotta love all the walkers and all the time and art put into each of them .. ok done with my dribble.. I will keep watching til the bitter end… Then buy all the DVDs lol

  10. I’m so sad that TWD is ending, but glad Carol & Daryl will continue on & hopefully finally admit their love for one another. At least we now know they will not be dying in the finale of season 10.

  11. I am very disappointed!!! I love TWD, & there are just too many storylines they can come up with besides just cancelling a show loved by millions & millions!! This damn pandemic is ruining our lives, & our TV ENTERTAINMENT!! I hope any other TV show they do next can hold up to TWD!!

  12. I think I am ok with this, time will tell. Just as long as you are not taking it from us completely. Aaaaand when is Rick Grimes movies coning out? Or does this have somethibg to do with this?

  13. Honestly, I don’t want to see The Walking Dead end until they can get to the new world, back to some kind of civilization. Carol, Daryl, Rick, Michonne, Maggie, Hershel, Judith, RJ, Eugene, Morgan, Ezekiel, Jerry, Aaron, Rosita, Cocoa, Father Gabriel and maybe a few others should definitely make it to the new world. I think splitting the show in 3 – 4 different directions with all these walking dead shows is going to kill the entire series. It’s too much to keep up with. Just give us ONE awesome walking dead show and make it last 20 seasons. Grey’s Anatomy is still at it… why can’t The Walking Dead last that long?

  14. No. Please keep it coming.we can’t stop the walking dead. It needs to go for another 10 years. Will we see little Herschel and RJ grow up and Judith as well.

  15. It’s been a privlige to be a part of a family like on TWD I say that because I have watched it from season 1 till now I have felt every slice, every tear, every heart breaking moment of the show, may God bless each & everyone of you & Carol you gave me strength to stand on my own!

  16. I’m excited for the show to continue to evolve & mix “old” characters with new people & ideas. I like the “spin off” premise and the variety it can bring within a unified, continuous theme. Props to the writers, directors, producers, extras, makeup artists, camera crews, gaffers, actors, scenery artists and location team, etc. Thanks for continuing my forever favorite family of AMC & all TWD ☠‍♂️‍♀️.

  17. Awe so gutted it’s coming to an end. Absolutely awesome show .Keeps us on the edge right to the end. Will definitely be watching the spinoffs. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

  18. Nooo! Our whole family look forward to watching every week! At least you’ll have spin offs. Love TWD!

  19. I’ve watched from day one, Every episode and even watched them 2, 3 And even 4 times. Love this show I will miss seeing it❤️ Would love to know if anything like this show will still run?

  20. I love this show I can never wait till the season starts each time I’m so sadden that’s it will end I look forward to seeing it all the time love all you guys Daryl is the most handsome and caring man love you Daryl love carol too with lots of love Esperanza

  21. I’m sad to hear this news… but I had that feeling. I will be awaiting the spin off. I’m thankful that they did this show.. it was a dream come true.

  22. This breaks my heart. But as long as there are shows to spin off from the walking dead. Ones that have are loved characters in them. I think I’ll be ok. Oh and I haven’t obviously seen the finale yet. But please don’t kill Jerry. And maybe make a show focused on him and the king Ezekiel. That would be awesome. Especially if you did a flashback on them from before when sheva was still alive.

  23. I have been a fan since the very first show. We have bought each dvd that has came out. .My grand son and my grand daughter and my son in law and daughter and I went to Comicon in Nashville just to see Norman Redus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. They were super to us.
Thank you Walking Dead. I will miss you terribly

  24. Brilliant episodes , when it ends will be a sad day love all the characters portrayed in The Walking Dead.

  25. when finished they need to read the book series of “The UnDead Day one” to day 21 by RR Haywood …it captivated me just like the walking dead comics did absolute awesome and base around the south coast of England Portsmouth area

  26. Absolutely terrible. How can the show go for so long and then just stop and leave every at an ending like this? Unfortunately there is no words that would ever make any one change their minds… And if it was a financial issue, I would sure give up some of my own money to keep this going. Why can’t others make the same sacrifice?

  27. I can’t believe its been 10 yrs and im still watching and hurting over the news of the upcoming end. I have been a dedicated viewer the entire time, NEVER ,missed a show in Feb 2018 I woke up in the hospital, I jad a massive heart attack, one of my first questions was {because it was friday night i last remembered} was when can i go home? i was informed oh id be there awhile i said like hell you dont get AMC, the season finale for walking dead is sunday night and im not missing it, My nurse leaned in and said buddy todays tuesday, then im informed i had to have a brain surgery took me a solid year to catch that last epidsode The EMS crew cut me out of my best and breand new walking dead shirt, I am wearing one now..lol they cut me out of another one .. The cruelty never stops.. new rule at my house.. pull my damn WD shirts off me before calling EMS..
