The Suicide Squad: John Cena Says the Movie Will Make You Sh*t Your Pants

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is shaping up to be a film that we are all looking forward to given the hype for the film. The filmmaker joined a handful of Squad stars on Sunday for a virtual panel as part of CCXP, and that’s when John Cena teased the film’s more graphic tone.

“I would also say it’s quite graphic … The Suicide Squad is, I would also say it’s quite graphic,” Cena said in a roundtable panel featuring Gunn, Alice Braga, Daniela Melchoir, Idris Elba, and others. “The Suicide Squad is gonna make you shit your pants, so bring a change of pants. Because you’re not ready. gonna make you shit your pants, so bring a change of pants. Because you’re not ready,”  Cena said at CCXP according to Comicbook.com.

Cena’s comments aren’t that shocking, given that the film’s director, James Gunn, recently said that, “I was given full freedom to kill anyone.” Anyone? Yep! That includes Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

In an interview with Collider, Gunn said:

“In The Suicide Squad, some of the characters end up being good, some end up being terrible. They don’t just get in fights and say they’re going to kill each other, they actually do get in fights and kill each other. You really don’t know who’s going to live and who’s going to die. I was given full freedom to kill anyone, and I mean anyone, by DC.”

That’s pretty amazing, but DC needs Gunn’s magic touch badly. Gunn was purposely chosen to direct this ensemble film after his great success with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise for Marvel.

DC has notoriously fallen short of the Marvel properties with the few exceptions of Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Gunn has been brought in to revamp and renew the Suicide Squad property. In fact, they aren’t even treating this new film as a sequel to the first film. This new film is a complete reboot.

Remember, when Gunn announced the cast list for The Suicide Squad what he said? Here’s that quote for you again to refresh your memory.

Gunn posted an image on his social media pages with the full list of stars captioning the photo, “Don’t get too attached.”

Then he posted the cast list, in full, which includes the following:

So? What do you think think this means for the film? We can’t imagine that Harley Quinn would die. We also know that John Cena’s character will be getting its own HBOMax series. It will be exciting to find out who may just not make it in the new film.
