Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling is trading in her orange jumpsuit for a much darker role in the upcoming horror film titled The Prodigy from Nicholas McCarthy. The Prodigy will follow Schilling as Sarah, a woman who notices that her son Miles (It’s Jackson Scott) is beginning to exhibit some extremely dark and disturbing behavior, leading her to wrestle with her instinct to both protect him and investigate just what is causing this behavior. She is forced to look for answers in the past where the line between perception and reality becomes frighteningly blurry.

The first poster for the film puts Sarah and Miles front and center, but its the ominous set of hands on Sarah’s shoulders that is quite chilling.

While it may sound like a familiar premise, with director Nicholas McCarthy and writer Jeff Buhler (2019’s Pet Sematary) teaming up behind the camera, audiences should expect to be on the edge of their seats in terror the entire time.

[row]“The first time we previewed the movie there is a section where people screamed so loud that we had to go back and re-edit the scene that followed it, because people were still recovering from what they had just seen, and they were missing the dialogue,” McCarthy told EW. [/row]

The first official trailer for The Prodigy is coming soon, but in the meantime check out the first teaser below!
