The bells were ringing, the cheesesteaks were frying and the beer taps were flowing all day on this Sunday morning in Philadelphia. However, it wasn’t just any Sunday morning. It was NFC Championship day in Philadelphia, a title that had not been whispered through the streets in years.
Since the Philadelphia Eagles starting Quarterback Carson Wentz got a severe ACL injury earlier this year, fans of the birds were extremely skeptical about the teams chances of continuing on the road to victory this year. However, their prayers were answered. The Eagles are going to the Super Bowl for the first time in 13 years!
Backup Quaterback Nick Foles were certainly on fire Sunday night against the team with the Number One leading defense in the League, The Minnesota Vikings. He led the team to an incredibly stunning victory of 38-7.
“I just think you’ve got to keep going at it,” Foles said, in a post game interview. “And we all believe in each other. I’m blessed to have amazing teammates, amazing coaches. Everyone here that’s a part of the Philadelphia Eagles organization is first class.”
One of the major plays that set the stage for the game was the 50-yard interception return Touchdown by Patrick Robinson. It seemed following this play, the Vikings could not get any more points on the board no matter how hard they tried. A sweet victory for the city of Philadelphia.
With about fifty seconds into the final quarter, with the score 38-7, Eagles players on the sideline and waiting to kick off on the field were dancing up a storm and fans were chanting “We want Brady.”Well, they’re going to get Brady and his crew in two weeks time.
“I’m so proud of our players,” team owner Jeffrey Lurie said. “The resilience this group of men has is unequaled.”
Congratulations Eagles, from this Philadelphia Girl (but Proud Packers fan!)
