The new gen liars are torn between being relieved that Nolan is gone and feeling bad about being relieved. Well, Ava truly loved him so she’s more upset than the other two, but still, he wasn’t the best boyfriend. The three were never really true friends but must come together to keep up appearances until the case closes.
Ali gets a text from Nolan telling her to meet him on the roof. She thinks the text was really from Mona. Mona didn’t send it, it was actually sent before Nolan’s death, making Ali look guilty. It turns out that there was a partial Beacon Security blackout that night. The two team up over key lime pie.
Authorities have ruled Nolan’s death to be a homicide and the liars are terrified that they could be blamed, especially with everything Nolan had on them. Caitlin and Dylan convince a grieving Ava that they didn’t kill Nolan and that they have to look the part of the “perfect posse” so people don’t suspect a thing.
Caitlin and Dylan look for their secrets where he kept his weed. Mason, Nolan’s childhood friend and Caitlin’s ex, intercepts Caitlin to offer an alibi, just in case. Dylan keeps looking to find a note where the secrets were kept. Someone beat them to the stash and now knows their secrets. At the wake, they hear a whisper saying “It’s just like you imagined.” Someone was with them that night and is trying to frame them.
Back at Ali’s home, Mrs. Hotchkiss is waiting for her. She wanted to feel close to Taylor. Taylor was once a bright, happy girl that became paranoid when she started teaching… BHU is getting creepier and creepier. The next day, BHU’s new head of security, Dana Booker, pulls the liars out of class to talk to them. She vows to find out who killed Nolan. Dana used to work for the FBI to track down Ava’s father. She’s scary because she’ll do anything to get answers. Ali and her perfect timing interrupt the talk with an alibi for the liars.
The old Ali is back! She has just as much to lose as the new gen liars. Who killed Nolan and who is trying to frame Ali? Also, who was with the liars in the woods and stole their idea? Anyway, I’m so happy the OG liars are still close, Hanna and Caleb had their baby and Spencer and Toby eloped! It’s great to hear that things in Rosewood are going well. It’s only episode two but I’m excited to see what happens next!
