The New ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Trailer Broke Its Own Viewing Record for Sony Pictures
If there’s one thing that Marvel superhero movies love to do – it’s break their own records and Spider-Man is no different. Sony’s Columbia Pictures unveiled a brand new trailer for the second Spider-Man installment, Far From Home, and being that it was the first sliver of content post-Endgame, fans were more than ready to see what’s next for the web-slinger (and the MCU).
The trailer managed to grab 135.2 million views in 24 hours, breaking the record and taking the top spot away from January’s Far From Hom teaser, which scored 130 million views in its first 24 hours. To continue the Spider-Man sweep, the third place still belongs to Spider-Man: Homecoming’s trailer. So, it’s safe to say that Sony had a pretty great day, even though Peter Parker is having a pretty rough one right now.
Far From Home picks up immediately after the events of Endgame and finds Peter (Tom Holland) grappling with the loss of his mentor Tony Stark/Iron Man. He’s hopeful that his upcoming school trip abroad will be a good distraction, but when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) shows up in his hotel room with a new mission and Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), things quickly go awry.
The trailer also gave a huge hint as to where the MCU was headed for its next phase when it revealed that Beck was actually from another version of Earth.
So, based on the fact that 135 million people tuned in to watch the trailer, we think it’s safe to say that the fans are ready to move on from what happened in Endgame and see just what the future of Marvel movies has in store!
Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 2nd!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
