Pedro Pascal Reveals Personal Reason for Not Watching The Last of Us Finale
Pedro Pascal recently opened up about the emotional reason behind his decision to avoid watching the final episode of The Last of Us. The highly acclaimed HBO series has taken the world by storm, hailed as one of the best and most faithful video game adaptations to date. Its popularity soared, attracting millions of viewers and swiftly securing a second season. As the show built up momentum, fans eagerly anticipated the intense and dark finale, eagerly anticipating its live-action adaptation. However, there is one person who remains in the dark.
During an interview with actor Steven Yeun for Variety, Pascal confessed that he hadn’t seen the last episode of The Last of Us, despite Yeun praising it highly. Pascal, who plays a leading role in the series, revealed that the experience was deeply personal for him. Although he had watched every other episode leading up to the finale, his attachment to the show made it challenging to let go.
“I watched everything until then,” Pascal admitted. “I’ve never been involved in something for such a prolonged period, so my connection to the experience is quite unusual. As a man approaching 50, feeling this innocent, bittersweet emotional attachment to something that has concluded… It continues, but there will never be another ‘meeting Bella for the first time,’ working with Craig and the entire crew, or my dear friend Coco, who styled my hair. It was like falling in love, and at a point where you think, ‘I don’t want to fall in love anymore,’ because it hurts too much.”
Despite his sentiment, Pascal is expected to reprise his role in the show’s second season. However, he acknowledges that certain “firsts” will never occur again. While the extent of Pedro Pascal’s screen time in the upcoming season remains uncertain, fans can anticipate his return to HBO in 2025, barring any significant delays caused by potential writers’ strikes.
