This week’s episode of The Last of Us had no shortage of attentive fans, as some clues and information shared in earlier episodes paid off. Unfortunately, this also means that certain aspects which might have been overlooked during the editing process were spotted by sharp-eyed viewers.
Asides from the film crew that was visible on the other side of the bridge in Wyoming, a keen-eyed observer may have also spotted one of their hands guiding Shimmer to face Ellie when they first met. This Easter egg can be found if you look very carefully underneath the horse’s head – an addition which has left many viewers asking “who is editing these HBO shows.

In contrast to the gaffe that was plainly visible on screen, this hand is slightly concealed – no wonder it has gone unnoticed until now. However, another crew member’s unexpected appearance in the show made these subtle errors amusing for those who hadn’t noticed them previously.
Obviously it was Ellie’s other hand extending under the frame of the camera like Mr. Fantastic

When this was exposed, fans began to question why the crew member couldn’t just be an extra as a “stable guy” for the horse. This would prevent any strange hand appearances and also keep control over the horse without needing to conceal anything. However, it was assumed by editors that everyone’s attention would be on Bella Ramsey’s interaction with Shimmer, so no one would spot it anyway.
Welp, that failed, didn’t it?
why not just have a horseman handler there… as a handler/stable guy like it wouldnt of changed the scene and then no weird thing hand im trying so hard to defend this episode but it was so messy filming wise

They definitely kept it because it is was the best take, but I also never noticed this on my TV because I was focused on Bella’s performance. https://t.co/zdqrEJGrYQ

almost certainly one of those “no one is gonna notice, we can keep it” type of things, but they forgot the Internet clips every half a second of footage of stuff they like

Editorial errors have become commonplace on HBO’s programming, the most famous of which being an errant Starbucks cup in Game of Thrones. It may be that The Last of Us takes place within Wednesday and The Addams Family universe – Thing must’ve managed to seek asylum in some off-the-grid town! After all, how could Cordyceps infect a hand with no brain?
