The Last of Us: Bella Ramsey Got a Black Eye During Chaotic Scene

Bella Ramsey, the acclaimed star of The Last of Us, was recently injured on set while filming an intense sequence. With HBO at the helm producing this series, viewers can expect a high-budget production with some cinematic flair that is sure to please fans and newcomers alike. Naughty Dog’s award winning video game provides ample source material for the show as it chronicles two broken people in a post-apocalyptic world intertwined by love and heartache – something fans have come to know and adore about The Last Of Us experience.

Last week’s episode was arguably the most riveting action sequence since the series’ beginning. Our protagonists were cornered by a throng of adversaries, only to be unexpectedly saved by an onslaught of infected who suddenly burst forth from a sink hole in the ground. This allowed Ellie (portrayed by Bella Ramsey) and her group to escape unharmed – or so they thought! It turns out that Ramsey incurred an authentic injury while filming this tumultuous scene. The performer shared the incident with IGN (via GameSpot) and highlighted that one of their fellow actors portraying a clicker had hit Ramsey in the eye, leaving them with a shiner.

“It was incredibly stressful but in a way that felt amazing. I got so many bruises. I actually got a real black eye at one point,” Ramsey said. “Accidentally, the poor guy whacks me in the eye. I was so proud of it [the black eye]. I had a great time.”

Actors often times get hurt while filming action scenes. Tom Cruise famously broke his foot during Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and other actors have experienced minor injuries; these may not be as serious but still cause pain all the same. Although it’s only pretend, they must make their performance believable to the viewers – which sometimes means taking a real hit for dramatic effect!
