‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Renewed for Season 3

Blessed day, Handmaid’s Tale fans! Hulu has just announced that we will be returning to Gilead once more as they renewed the Emmy-Award winning series for a third season this morning. Even though The Handmaid’s Tale is just three episodes into its sophomore season, the renewal comes as no surprise. Not only has the series won a myriad of prestigious awards over the past year, but Hulu announced at its annual upfront presentation to ad buyers that viewership for the second season has almost doubled. Hulu and MGM Television have also signed Handmaid’s Tale creator and showrunner Bruce Miller on for an overall deal as well, securing his place at the helm of the critically acclaimed series.

Season 2 marked an exciting new beginning for the series, which has officially moved past the original source material of Margaret Atwood’s novel and ventured into unknown and fresh waters. The new season will follow June (Elisabeth Moss) as she struggles to escape, and presumably challenge, the dystopian laws of Gilead while trying to reunite with her daughter and husband. It will also dive deeper into the horrific land of the Colonies where Emily (Alexis Bledel) is currently residing.

The Handmaid’s Tale currently stars Elisabeth Moss, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Max Minghella and Samira Wiley. New episodes are currently being released on Hulu every Wednesday.
