‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Is Heading To UK’s Channel 4

TV lovers in the UK will no longer have to feel left out when it comes one popular series that hit the US small screen this year. After having to hear all of the critical acclaim and accolades surrounding Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale without the ability to watch it, they will finally be able to see what all of the fuss is about!

It was just announced that Channel 4 acquired the rights to the popular dystopian series, which they will begin airing later this May.

The Handmaid’s Tale is a chilling and frighteningly topical exploration of a world where women are subjugated.  I’m delighted that Channel 4 viewers will get to see this critically-acclaimed take on a classic novel,” said Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s Chief Creative Officer.

The Handmaid’s Tale is a ten part series based off of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name. It follows Offred (Mad Men‘s Elizabeth Moss) who, along with a number of other fertile women in a modern day dystopian society, are fighting to stay alive while being forced to provide children for the Commanders of this new society. The series also stars Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls), and Joseph Finnes (Shakespeare in Love).

US viewers can catch new episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu every Wednesday.
