UPDATE ALERT!

Hugh Jackman has confirmed that work on the sequel has indeed begun. The star claims that a treatment in currently being worked on meaning that the story and characters are being fleshed out.

However, Jackman is actually unsure as to whether he will return for the sequel. Talking to BBC Radio 2, Jackman stated his doubt:

“I don’t know. I don’t know. I would like to be part of it for sure, and I don’t know if it would be centred on my character,”

So there you have it. The Greatest Showman sequel may not include the star of the show, P.T. Barnum. Only time will tell! Can you imagine the sequel working without Hugh Jackman? Let us know in the comments below and continue reading to find out more about the sequel.

The popular and incredibly entertaining musical, The Greatest Showman, which made $435 million at the worldwide box office making it the 3rd highest-grossing musicals of all time, has a sequel currently in the works.

The first film which followed P.T Barnum and his circus was an instant classic among musical fans, it even became the best selling album of 2018. Considering its overwhelming success, it is not surprising that the fans and directors would want to do a follow-up, clearly one is Never Enough.

The director, Michael Gracey, when talking to The Sun, said:

“When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it’s only natural there is demand for a sequel. So those discussions have started and we are working on one right now.”

At the moment, there is no indication as to what the sequel could include. However, considering its success and Hugh Jackman’s love for the musical, I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the cast members returned. This is Me, but I could see the sequel taking the Circus all around the world, perhaps a rival Circus? Regardless of what happens, they’re really going to have to work hard if they hope to top the first film.

We may be waiting a while though. Hugh Jackman seems to be enjoying life on the stage after opening the Brit Awards and confirming a stage show. The Man. The Music. The Show Tour is travelling around the world and will feature Hugh singing songs from many of his favourite musicals along with duets with mystery special guests including Keala Settle. While there may not be people walking on a Tightrope, Hugh will be joined by a huge Orchestra to help him through his massive show. You can watch all of your favourite musical moments Come Alive onstage on his world tour that begins in Germany, Switzerland, France, Ireland, and then England before moving to the States for the last leg of the tour.

In addition to that, Jackman has also confirmed that the production of a stage show is currently in talks. Never in A Million Dreams did I expect The Greatest Showman to become this popular. But it only makes sense to roll with it, it’s a no-brainer, people are absolutely obsessed and it seems that the people responsible, including Jackman, want to continue giving fans The Greatest Show. Whether it’s on stage or back on the big screen, From Now On, you can expect a lot of releases relating to The Greatest Showman– Sing-Alongs, small stage productions, track covers, Hugh’s show and the eventual stage extravaganza and sequel.
