“The Gray Man,” According To Ryan Gosling, Is a “Digital Hero In An Analog World”

The Gray Man, which will be released next weekend on Netflix, may cost more than $200 million, according to the trailer, with a lot of CGI showing up. Even though the cast and crew remain adamant that the literary adaptation will maintain a distinctively old school flavor, the film may come with a price tag in excess of $200 million.

Ryan Gosling is making his debut in the action hero role for the first time, which is enough to pique Joe and Anthony Russo’s interest. It’s about time we witnessed the future Ken doing some running and gunning. Ryan Gosling is regarded as one of today’s greatest talents, so seeing him in action hero mode should be exciting.

In a comic example of life imitating art, Gosling informed the Gray Man’s official press notes that his character Court Gentry isn’t as smart as those pursuing him, just like his own attitude to the studio-backed blockbuster game, an approach that virtually all of his peers and predecessors have taken at least once.

“I’m really excited for audiences to see this film because, personally, it’s the kind of film that I would have loved growing up. It’s the kind of film that made me want to make movies. It has such an amazing cast and it walks such an interesting tonal line. It gives you all of the larger-than-life action sequences and set pieces, but at the same time you get to follow these characters. I also think Six is relatable because he’s an analog hero in a digital world.”

Based on what we’ve seen from The Gray Man thus far, it appears to be a classic vs. modern espionage scenario, but given that sequel rumors are already rampant, we have a good feeling about who will win.
