When ABC’s The Good Doctor returns for the second half of season two, there’s going to be a new face roaming the halls of San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Series executive producer Daniel Dae Kim will be stepping in front of the cameras for a key recurring guest role on the hit medical drama.

According to a press release from ABC, “Kim will be playing, Dr. Jackson Han, a brash new Chief of Surgery at St. Bonaventure. Dr. Han’s arrival will shake things up at St. Bonaventure and specifically put Dr. Shaun Murphy’s (Freddie Highmore) career in jeopardy.”

Best known for his on-screen roles in LOST and Hawaii 5-0, Kim is set to appear beginning in episode 15 and, according to Deadline, will appear in at least the last 4 episodes in season two. In fact, Kim will be appearing in an upcoming episode directed by series star Freddie Highmore.

Because the cast of The Good Doctor is so incredibly adorable, they released a little Instagram video announcing Kim’s role. Check it out below.

The Good Doctor stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital with autism and savant syndrome. In addition to Highmore, the series also stars Antonia Thomas as Dr. Claire Browne, Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Neil Melendez, Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Tamlyn Tomita as Allegra Aoki, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park and Paige Spara as Lea.

The series is created by David Shore who also serves executive producer along with Kim, David Kim, Erin Gunn, and Sebastian Lee.
