‘The Flash’s Danielle Panabaker, Hartley Sawyer, Candice Patton and Robbie Amell Talk Arrowverse at Fan Fest San Jose

Fan Fest San Jose is in full swing at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center December 1st and 2nd, and the cast of The Flash was able to sit down and answer some fan questions first thing in the morning.

Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton, Robbie Amell and Hartley Sawyer talked all things The Flash and even some of the upcoming crossover event which fans are anticipating.

The three were asked about their fellow cast mate Tom Cavanaugh directing the 100th episode, saying this is the 3rd he’s directed over the series lifespan.

Of course they were asked about Elseworlds, which airs beginning next week. It will start on Sunday with The Flash, then move to Arrow on Monday and conclude with Supergirl on Tuesday. Panabaker hinted that some awesome things will be happening during that final episode.

Hartley says there were some scenes that got his inner child excited,

When I heard the idea fort his crossover, I got really really excited as a comic fan because to me it felt like something very special and like something I’d see in the comics. Remember how they do what if? Like if Hulk killed Wolverine. It felt like a special run of comic books. so it brough the 8 and 9 year old in me back. I think that’s why people love these. If you lose your inner child you lose everything.

One fan asked about locking people up in Harrison’s lab, and whether or not it has bathrooms.

Danielle has this to say about the bathroom issue:

“They tried to answer that questions in the season finale in season 1. So I guess there are bathrooms that pop out of the wall. Oh you might get to see it in the crossovers…”

She also says she worked with Ruby Rose, and is ready for fans to see her in action and how cool (but restrictive) her costume is:

I did get to work with ruby on the crossovers and you guys are going to love it. That woman’s amazing.

When asked if they have any input on their character’s actions, Hartley says most of the credit has to go to the writers,

“In terms of the direction of our characters, sometimes. There are so many hundreds of people who work behind the scenes to make the show that hopefully you love. A lot of the credit goes to the writers. This year more than any prior year, we are able to collaborate with the writers more but it’s ultimately the writers vision. It’s a team sport.”

Hartley was asked if there are any love interested in the future for his character, and he says definitely yes.

Something very very special is coming soon.

Danielle Panabaker, also known for her role in Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Suburbs, said she’s grateful to have had the career she’s had.

It feels great. I always say any time you are lucky enough to make a living, you are blessed and lucky. I’m greatful to have a career I love and feel very passionately about.

Danielle is directing episode 18 of The Flash this season, and that makes her the first female director in the entire Arrowverse. She says she’s honored, excited and grateful for the opportunities.

Robbie Amell joined the panel, delighting fans. He and Danielle joked about how she wishes he would come back to life.
