The Flash Recap ‘The Death of Vibe’

This week, we get our first glimpse of the Flash Museum as a young Nora wanders through the Hall of Villains. She reveals to Team Flash that Cicada is the only villain the team was never able to catch. Cisco equates him to Jack to the Ripper. They need to hurry and track him down before he goes after his next victim, and, unfortunately, Cicada has his sights set on Vibe. Cicada is looking over photos of Vibe in the papers and notices Joe behind him. The villain goes to the West home and starts torturing Joe in order to get the detective to call Vibe for help. Joe refuses, enduring the pain.

Team Flash decides to call on Herr Wells for some assistance, but the German Wells is too preoccupied to help out. He instead refers them to Harrison Sherloque Wells, and he is quite the handful. Sherloque quickly deduces who Cicada is. Team Flash apprehend him, but it turns out that Sherloque is wrong. The truth is that he has caught Cicada’s all over the Multiverse and they have always been this same guy, but since Nora came back and changed the timeline, Cicada’s true identity has changed as well. Sherloque tries to fake his death to get out of the situation, but Cisco figures out that he is just trying to run. They force the new Wells to stay and help them solve the mystery and get back the exuberant amount of money Sherloque demanded as payment (which has already been spent).

Cecile wakes up because she can hear Joe suffering in her head. When she comes downstairs and sees Cicada torturing her husband, she makes to send the distress signal to Team Flash. Joe mentally warns her that that is what Cicada wants. From upstairs, the baby starts crying, which alerts Cicada to Cecile’s presence. She hits the signal. Cisco is the first on the scene, but Cicada was expecting him. He tackles Cisco back into the portal. It’s a race against time to find Cisco, who is now powerless, before Cicada murders him. Sherloque figures out where they are and Barry runs to his rescue. His speed is taken and Cicada delivers a beat-down. Nora has an idea and runs to their aid. With the help of one of the team’s breach opens, they fake Cisco’s death. Cicada is about to kill Barry when a wound stops him. He then flies off. So Cicada is a meta?

Joe reveals what he knows about Cicada to Iris. He then says that he thinks the man is a father. We then go to a hospital room where a young girl is in a coma. This is Cicada’s daughter, and the doctor tells the villain that it’s not likely she’ll make it. She then asks to see Cicada’s wound, which she says is getting worse. The doctor warns him to stop, and he says not until he’s completed his task. My guess is that Cicada and his daughter were wounded during some meta attack, or perhaps from raining satellite debris and that’s why he is harboring such a grudge. This also explains why he reacted the way he did when he saw Nora. It wasn’t because he recognized her. It’s because she called Flash “Dad.” He couldn’t harm the girl’s father in front of him, but that won’t stop him in the future, I bet.

While all of this is going on, Caitlin and Ralph are trying to figure out the mystery of Caitlin’s father’s death. They go to her mother, who denies the fake death certificate. She demands proof of their theory that her husband is alive, but Caitlin doesn’t reveal everything she knows. Later, they break into her mother’s records and find a final letter written to Caitlin by her father. It reads as a suicide note, but then Caitlin starts digging a little deeper. She and her father used to create fake period tables as a game, and this is exactly what her father has done in his note. Caitlin deciphers a message asked her to find him. The camera pans out and we see that there is a small camera in the lab. Caitlin is being watched.
