The Flash Preview ‘Versus Zoom’

The Flash is back! And I don’t think there are any more breaks this season so we can finish out the next six episodes without having to wait.

And what a return the show is making. This week we will get the origin of Zoom. His real name is Hunter Zolomon and he is a convicted serial killer (awesome). When asked why he would pose as The Flash and then show up as Zoom, he says that he did this to give people hope and then rip it away from them. So he really is completely crazy.

Barry and Zoom come face to face this episode and despite Barry’s confidence in his speed, I don’t think it’s going to be that easy. The last scene of the promo is Zoom going creepy deep voice and saying that you can’t contain the darkness.

For those of you wondering how Zoom and Barry come together in this episode, the answer lies in the crossover episode with CBS’ Supergirl. In the episode, Barry was practicing using his speed and managed to arrive in a different world, an Earth where there is a Supergirl. The end of that episode finds Barry going back to his own Earth with the knowledge of how to jump from world to world. That episode takes place between this episode and the previous one, “Flash Back.” So now Barry will be able to travel to Earth-2 and take down Zoom (and try to free the man in the mask).

In other news, Katie Cassidy will be joining The Flash universe as Laurel Lance’s Earth-2 doppelganger. She goes by the name of Black Siren, and it is not yet known if she is a hero or a villain. It will be cool to see the Earth-2 version of Black Canary and there are rumors that her costume will reflect Black Canary’s appearance in the comics. Cassidy will appear in episode 22 on May 17.
