The Flash Preview ‘Potential Energy’
The Flash is back from the break and I am so excited! There are two trailers to discuss and they are both super intense.
The first trailer is for the mid-season premier and it focuses on Barry’s conflict to tell Patty the truth. Iris tells him that if he loves and cares for her, he needs to reveal his true identity. Before he can do so, Patty is kidnapped by Zoom. I think it would be a really cool, awful twist if Patty was working for Zoom the whole time, but based on the previous episode and how conflicted she was about Weather Wizard, I don’t think my theory is true.
The other trailer is a look at what is coming the rest of the season and oh my goodness: Earth 2. Barry and Cisco (I think) are going with Harry to Earth 2. I am stoked to see more of the alternate timeline and am glad that the show is going there. I don’t know how much longer we would tolerate the same formula of “Zoom sends bad guy to get Barry” from the first half without a reveal of who is under the black mask. I think that they venture through the breach because of Patty. Barry knows that he is not fast enough to take on Zoom yet, so the only reason he would go after him is to save Patty.
There are shots in the trailer showing which alternate versions of people we will see. Reverse Flash is back and this time it is the real Eobard Thawne under the mask. Next there is a shot of Barry wearing glasses and getting really close with Iris, so perhaps in the alternate timeline they are already together. I had a crazy idea that Barry- 1 is posing as Barry-2 and then meets up with Iris and that reignites his feelings. It’s possible. Probably what I am most looking forward to is Caitlin as Killer Frost. She will be incredibly hard for Barry and Cisco to face.
A couple of days ago, Danielle Panabaker posted a photo on Twitter of Killer Frost and Firestorm Ronnie Raymond. I am assuming that it is an Earth-2 version of Ronnie because his costume looks darker and matches the color palette of the world, but I still believe that Ronnie-1 didn’t die and just got sucked into the wormhole. That would be a cool twist if Firestorm suddenly turns around to aid Barry. Regardless, I am excited. They look awesome.
The Flash returns Tuesday, January 19 on The CW.
