‘The Flash’: A New Season, A New Harrison Wells

The Flash: A New Season, A New Harrison Wells

Season 5 of The Flash will bring with it yet another iteration of Harrison Wells, played by Tom Cavanagh. According to executive producer Todd Helbing, this new Wells will be named Sherloque, and as the name suggests, he is a master detective.

“He’s come to help [the team] track down Cicada. He’s pretty awesome at his job, and Ralph doesn’t take too kindly to somebody that has skills that may or may not be better than his.”

Cavanagh has played so many different versions of the same character, so it will be fun to see him tackle yet another variation. Season 4 saw the return of Harry Wells from Earth-2, but Cavanagh also played several other iterations in the same scene as the “Council of Wells.” Since the new Wells’ name is so close to that of another famous detective, perhaps Cavanagh will draw inspiration from the classic stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Helbing also hinted that Sherloque will have a love interest.

When The Flash returns, the team will be faced with the new big bad, Cicada, but also with the “mistake” made by Barry and Iris’ future daughter, Nora (played by Jessica Parker Kennedy). Though she helped her father save Central City, Nora claims that traveling back in time was a terrible idea, and now she can’t get back.

The Flash returns for its fifth season Tuesday, October 9, on The CW.
