The First Poster for Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘The Grinch’ Has Arrived!

Here’s an early Christmas present for all of you Grinch lovers! Illumination Entertainment has just released the first poster for their 3D animated movie Dr. Suess’ The Grinch and the titular character is looking more adorable than ever. However, don’t let the innocent looks fool you, the poster leaves you with the classic promise that the Grinch, who will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, will “get meaner.”

Illumination’s version is a welcome one that will surely find a place amongst the other two beloved variations including the 1966 animated TV short and the Jim Carey live-action take that came out in 2000.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a perfect choice for the Christmas thief whose performance exudes  “comedic wickedness while embodying vulnerability,” according to producer Chris Meledandri. Cumberbatch has also provided narration to many projects and documentaries including BBC’s The Dreams of William Golding and South Pacific. He also provided the voice and movements for Smaug in The Hobbit films.

The Grinch will be hitting theaters Christmas 2018 with Peter Candeland and Yarrow Cheney set to direct.
