With 17 days until Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters, the Russo brothers are opening up about the film. At least, in terms of how the journeys of our favorite heroes have led us here.
In Telegraph India, they discussed everything from Captain America’s journey to Thanos’ backstory and which hero connects with him the most in Infinity War. It’s an answer that we didn’t exactly expect, but upon realizing it, makes the most sense. It’s not a personal relationship – quite honestly – we were expecting Gamora.
Instead, it’s more of a connection that brings together a fight, a battle, a war. It’s a hero who has known the depth of an evil looming in the distance.
‘It’s all the heroes. I think he has the most specific connection to Tony because Tony is a futurist, and he has predicted a threat like Thanos. It’s lived in his brain even though he couldn’t name it. Tony is the most desperately driven, down to the core, to react against something like Thanos, although all the heroes will face a threat, no matter who it is or where it comes from. But I think this is intrinsic to Tony’s psychology, and because Tony started it all with Iron Man, he has a special connection to the threat that’s facing him.’
Now, this isn’t exactly a connection we think Iron Man is excited to have, but it’s one he’s going to take in stride. Like the Russo’s said, he’s been preparing for this, even if he didn’t realize it. He’s known something bigger was coming, and now that it’s here, he’s going to fight with everything he has inside of him to destroy every evil that comes along with Thanos.
You can see Iron Man, and the rest of the Avengers, take on the villain in Avengers: Infinity War on April 27th.
‘…but I knew him’
