‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5 Part 1 Recap

Teen Wolf Season 5 Part 1 Recap

Season 5 starts off with everything looking up. Team Wolf (with the exception of Liam) are preparing to enter their final year of high school, and this establishes the overarching theme for the half season, friendship and bonds. Naturally, things don’t stay calm for long as they meet Theo and the Dread Doctors.

Theo was an old friend of Scott’s, who moved away. Now he has come back and reveals that he
is a werewolf and wants to be a part of Scott’s pack. My red flag instantly went up the first time he appears, and it turns out I was right. The reason Theo returned is to steal Scott’s pack and become an Alpha (more on that in a second).

The Dread Doctors are seriously creepy. Each season seems to up the scare factor, and I think these three take the cake. It is revealed throughout the ten episodes that they are experimenting on people to create
chimeras, who are a human and usually some sort of animal hybrid. We are led to believe that, so far, none of their experiments have lived. That isn’t true as it is revealed much later that Theo is working with the Dread Doctors and is a chimera himself, the only living success.

Theo manipulates all of the members of Team Wolf, driving a wedge between them, and even successfully destroys Scott and Stiles’ friendship. Season 5A ends with Theo raising the failed chimeras from the dead and leading them to destroy Beacon Hills.

What Happened to Team Wolf

Scott was slowly poisoned courtesy of Theo by wolfsbane, diminishing his abilities. After the death of the girl that Liam loves, Theo tells Liam that it was all Scott’s fault and sends him to kill Scott. They fight and Scott manages to survive, only to be killed by Theo. At least, he was almost dead. Melissa arrives just in time and saves her son.

Stiles is without Malia, his Jeep, and his best friend. He also killed someone (it was self- defense), so the second half of the season will find him in a pretty dark place.

Lydia and Parrish are basically a couple, and it is revealed that he is a Hellhound (which I think is pretty cool). In the end,
Theo steals her memories so he can find the Nemeton where Parrish was unknowingly taking the bodies of the dead chimeras, leaving Lydia in a lobotomized state.

Kira was forced to leave Beacon Hills by her parents to get away from the Dread Doctors.

Malia was almost in a relationship with Theo, but she figures out that he is up to no good, but can do nothing to stop his plan.

There was a lot going on in the first ten episodes of season 5 and I was mad at the finale because it was a mean cliffhanger. Everything has been set up now for a really intense end to the season. I felt that this part of the arc was a little bit more confusing plot- wise than those in the past, and I had a hard time trying to figure out where it was all going, but the last two episodes were really fantastic as all the pieces fell into place. For the most part, we have a clear idea what is coming, though
I am sure we are in for a number of twists and turns.

Teen Wolf returns Tuesday, January 5, on MTV.
