The Walking Dead universe is just getting started, and it’s only going to get bigger with the conclusion of the main series later this month. We now know a few of the names connected to the anthology spinoff series Tales of the Walking Dead.
According to an announcement from AMC earlier today, via The Hollywood Reporter, The fifth and most recent entry in the franchise, Tales of the Walking Dead, will star Terry Crews, Poppy Liu, Parker Posey, Jillian Bell, and Anthony Edwards. The project was greenlit in October 2021.
The Walking Dead spinoff has a lot of returning talent, including Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Tara Nicole Weyr as directors. Returning from producing The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead for AMC are Michael Satrazemis to lead three episodes of the next series.
Walking Dead franchise content boss Scott M. Gimple is once again the executive producer on this project, with Channing Powell assuming the role of showrunner for the first time after working as a writer on the previous two seasons of The Walking Dead.
“Anthony, Jillian, Terry, Parker, and Poppy are the first wave of singular talents who will further expand the ‘Walking Dead’ Universe into harrowing, hilarious, heartfelt, and horrifying new realms and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the family, along with these terrific directors. More announcements, more wonderful folks to come,” Gimple said in a statement.
The present Walking Dead cast members will appear alongside new characters in the spin-off, according to an announcement from AMC. The program will have its own distinct narrative separate from the primary series, but we don’t know who these celebrities will be playing.
