With the upcoming crossover for Arrowverse around the corner, we finally have what most fans consider a long awaited look at Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechilin) together. The best part though is that their meeting takes place on The Kent Farm. If that wasn’t already exciting enough, when the pairing arrive at the Kent Family Farm fans might have a sense of deja vu. Why? Because the scenes in the upcoming Elseworlds scenes took place on the same farm used during the ten seasons of the hit television show Smallville as well.
The connection is one that fans will of Smallville will appreciate. Nostalgia at its best. Fans are the not the only people who are excited by the prospect of seeing Clark and Lois together on the farm. In fact, it brought on nostalgia in general for Melissa Benoist who told EW:
“I felt like we should’ve been eating apple pie and waving American flags. It was such Americana, and there were pickup trucks and Lois Lane had a toolbox and was working on a car. That iconic relationship of Lois and Clark, [Tyler and Elizabeth] have totally embraced it.”
No one can fault her after seeing the first look at the pairing on the farm below either. The photo makes me want a reboot of a Superman series something fierce. This iconic pairing is always one fans yearn for in their lives. At this point I’m not sure what is stopping the network from developing a new show. I think everyone would be okay with the potential five night epic crossover event. I think everyone enjoying Hoechilin’s performance is rooting for the same to occur. There’s always so much story to tell when it comes to the Superman universe that it’s too tempting not to create another incarnation of the character audiences continuously fall for time and time again.
Superman’s world never grows old and with the addition of Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor I have a feeling that fans will be clamoring for more Superman and Luthor battles that lie ahead. It’s inevitable. Superman without is nothing without Luthor and vice versa. These characters need to feed each other. The dynamic between the two characters has always been one of my favorites in the comic world and I’m predicting that Cryer and Hoechilin will create the tension between the two characters flawlessly. Waiting to see these two characters collide on the small screen.
Lex Luthor is not the only character that Superman will be colliding with this season of Supergirl though. The crossover event also introduces Superman to both Barry Allen and Oliver Queen. With such headstrong characters sometimes, I’m curious to see how these characters will interact with one another. The crazier part of course is knowing that Superman is not meeting the character’s true identities. My hopes are by the end of the crossover we will get to see Superman interact with Barry Allen as The Flash as well as Oliver Queen as The Green Arrow instead of the alternate versions.
What are you looking forward to the most in the upcoming crossover? Let us know in the comments below.
