Superman And Lois: Dramatizing Superman

Superman And Lois is the newest series to bring Superman to the small screen. This is exciting for all kinds of reasons my friends, and we’re not the only ones excited either. Have you seen the reviews that have been coming out? So far, the pilot episode at least is a hit which is just fantastic news. It looks like this could be the Superman show we’ve all been waiting for; I certainly hope so. It can’t have been easy to bring Superman to the small screen. In fact, Todd Helbing, the showrunner, recently spoke about just that. He sat down to talk about what it was like dramatizing Superman.
While speaking with Den Of Geek this is what Helbing had to say:
“Superman is a difficult person to dramatize because he’s perfect in a lot of ways. The analogy we always use is Superman is sort of but Clark can be clumsy as a dad. I think being clumsy as a parent, that’s something that we all are. We’re all figuring it out. There are a lot of books written about it, but the second it happens to you, you don’t know what you’re doing. So why would that be any different for the Man of Steel? In a lot of ways, that opened up the floodgates about really telling stories where people can relate to him in a way that they haven’t been able to before.”
It makes sense. I’ve been saying since the show’s announcement that you need to give Superman a relatable problem. Something he can’t just punch his way out of. Superman And Lois does just that!
You can catch the special premiere on February 23 on The CW. You can also watch it on the CW’s digital platforms the following day for free! I can’t wait!
