SDCC 2019: ‘Supergirl’ Drops Season 5 Trailer

Season 4 of Supergirl is arguably the best season yet. Politically charged, the show spread important messages of equality and peace with an enormous amount of heart and emotion. Season 4 provides voices to the underrepresented and allows the characters to grow and change alongside. Jesse Rath’s Brainy and Nicole Maines’ Dreamer joined the usual series regulars for their superhero antics, as the prejudice against aliens heightened.

Here is a recap of Season 4

Last season also introduced the show’s best villains yet as Jon Cryer arrives portraying Lex Luthor. His introduction to the Arrowverse was simply brilliantly orchestrated, aided by the machinations of Andrea Brook’s Miss Eve Teschmacher. The start of the season used Sam Witwer’s Ben Lockwood to masquerade as Agent Liberty in order to stir the pot and insight hate. Lex Luthor used Lockwood as a stepping stone to his grand arrival before revealing that Lex himself is the huge villain of Season 4.

We see Alex and Asie Tesfai’s Kelly Olsen finally kiss, as Chyler Leigh’s character finally gets a little slice of the happiness she deserves. Equally Brainy and Nia finally profess their love for one another.

The biggest impact on fans was Katie McGrath’s Lena Luthor finally discovers that Kara is Supergirl. Unfortunately, the Danver’s sisters didn’t get the chance to break the news. Instead, Lex informs Lena of Kara’s true identity.

The season ended by the team celebrating their victory at games night. They were joined by Lena who carried on as normal and hid the fact that she had learned the truth, despite it tearing her apart inside.

Here is what we know about Season 5 so far

Fans are eagerly awaiting Season 5 as we find out what happens next. How will Lena cope with this huge bombshell? When will she tell Kara that she knows the truth?

We’ve already seen that Eve Teschmacher was secretly being manipulated by an external organization who tells her ‘Leviathan is coming’. Andrea Brooks becomes a season regular for series 5. We know Lex Luthor is returning and can’t wait to see what else he has in store for Supergirl.

Jeremy Jordan is returning as his much-loved character Winn Schott towards the end of Season 5. We see Kara Danver’s new Supergirl suit. Photographs of Melissa Benoist’s new suit have been released, as the gravity-defying gender-prescriptive short skirt is replaced by a much more realistic and combat-comfortable trouser suit.

Supergirl will return in the fall with Season 5 alongside the other Arrowverse shows.
