Supergirl: Executive Producers Tease What’s in Store for Season 4

Season 3 of Supergirl ended with quite the cliffhanger as another Kara appeared in Siberia, but according to executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller, fans will have to be patient because the answer to that mystery will unfold throughout the season.

Right out of the gate, Kara will face threats from Mercy Graces (Rhona Mitra, The Last Ship), who has a complicated past with the Luthors. Her actions and objective will bring her in direct opposition to Supergirl. Another antagonistic force is Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer, Being Human), whose goal is to “foster division and turn America against the aliens that have emigrated.” Kara will have a lot on her plate handling Graces and Liberty, but there’s another factor to consider.

The season premier will introduce Nia Nal (Nicole Maines), a new reporter at CatCo and is also the hero Dreamer, who will be TVs first transgender superhero. According to the executive producers:

“Nia’s journey will be reminiscent of Kara’s in Season 1 as she figures out how to use her powers and become a fully realized hero.”

The roster for Season 4 has certainly changed with a whole slew of newcomers joining the series. Season 3 bid farewell to Winn and Mon-El, with actors Jeremy Jordan and Chris Wood stepping down as series regulars. This isn’t the last we will see of Winn, however, as he will make his return later in the season.

Supergirl returns for its fourth season Sunday, October 14, on The CW.
