‘Super Smash Bros Ultimate’: Good Picks for the Final 4 Fighters

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is here! We are only a week past the launch, and already the oh so large roster is growing. Super Smash Bros, just like many games, has a pass for additional content. For $24.99 you will get five additional fighters, five additional stages, and five additional music tracks.

The first additional fighter, which is not a part of the five pass fighters but an extra for purchasing Super Smash Bros during a specific time period or buying the pass was somewhat a surprise. Piranha Plant (Yes, your nemesis from the pipes in Mario Bros) was the first announcement, blowing away everyone’s ideas at what any of the additional content would be.

At The Game Awards 2018, Nintendo surprised again! In a trailer making some assume Persona 5 was getting a Switch port, Joker from the series was unexpectedly announced as the first fighter. I was at the Super Smash Bros launch during the reveal and the whole store went nuts as soon as the Smash logo appeared.

So who else can we expect with these next four fighters? According to Reggie Fils-Aime they will all be unique and unexpected. Here are a few picks I have for Nintendo from out of left field.

1. Spongebob Squarepants

Yes this one is weird, but Nintendo does not ever shy away from weird. Spongebob has not been in the spotlight recently besides the creator passing away, so this might be a way for Nickelodeon to grab some attention. Also, with all the crazy items he has at his disposal (jellyfishing nets, bubbles, karate mitts) there would be some fun moves Nintendo could craft.

2. Solaire (Dark Souls)

This is probably the closest I will come to a possibile fighter. As fan favorite from Dark Souls this seems like an easy pick, especially considering his amiibo is already out there. While there are several swordsmen in Super Smash Bros, the Dark Souls style would lend itself to him being more of a tank instead of the fast agile character the others are. Maybe his final smash could involve the sun?

3. Sora (Kingdom Hearts)

A Keyblade is not a sword right? Unfortunately for many fans, Kingdom Hearts is not on the Switch in any form. It has been rumored they may end up with the collections or Kingdom Hearts III eventually, but for now how about just letting us use the main character in Super Smash Bros? The only thing Nintendo would have to figure out would be what forms or moves to use from the epically large list Sora has available.

4. Hank Hill (King of the Hill)

I know, I know, I am not even in left field. I am across the country from whatever stadium we are playing in. I love the King of the Hill cartoon and since I may never see a reboot I at least want to have Hank Hill as a permanent feature of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And before you do it Nintendo, his final smash had better be propane related. His whole move set in all honesty probably would be.

So there are my super random ideas for the final fighters of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Pass! Who do you want to see in the final four? Let your challenger approach in the comments below!
