Fans who have been eagerly waiting to hear any news regarding Jessica Pearson’s upcoming Suits spionff are in for a treat as it officially has an easy to remember the name! The series, which follows Gina Torres’ Suits character Jessica Pearson as she opens her new practice in Chicago, will simply be called Pearson.
[row]”Gina’s portrayal of Jessica Pearson as one of television’s strongest, most successful businesswomen has made a huge impact with fans. We can’t wait to explore this next chapter in the Suits legacy — and a brand-new world for Jessica,” Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, recently told The Hollywood Reporter.[/row]
While originally being dubbed Second City, Pearson is a much simpler and direct name that will clue new viewers in on just who the one in charge is. In addition to Torres, Morgan Spector will star as Mayor Bobby Golec. One Tree Hill alum Bethany Joy Lenz also signed on last year as Keri Allen, a born and raised Chicago native who is a driven and ambitious city attorney serving as the unofficial right hand to the mayor.
The supporting cast includes The Oath’s Isabel Arraiza who will be playing Yoli Castillo, Jessica’s passionate assistant who will learn from the best how to most effectively channel her intensity. Wynona Earp’s Chantel Riley will play Angela Cook, a Certified Nursing Assistant and Jessica’s cousin who is suspicious of her cousin’s sudden altruism. Baller’s star Eli Goree will play Derrick, a journalist-turned-press secretary working for the mayor.
Season one of Pearson, which was recently picked up to series by USA Network, does not currently have a premiere date but it’s other half, Suits, will be returning for its back-half of season 8 on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 10/9c.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
