‘Suicide Squad’ Director Shares Unseen Image of Jared Leto’s Joker Looking Like a ‘Sgt. Pepper’ Reject

After James Gunn’s latest confirmation that the SnyderVerse is no more and Netflix won’t be taking it, now would be an opportune time for its advocates to move on. Taking its place as the most sought-after abandoned DCU project from hereon out would likely be David Ayer’s legendary unseen version of Suicide Squad.

Despite the fact that almost seven years have passed since its theatrical release and being dubbed as one of the worst-reviewed films in franchise history, James Gunn and Aaron Safran’s Chapter 1 – Gods & Monsters could be a game changer. Even still, it hasn’t stopped Gunn from advocating for another chance to prove himself within this beloved series.

Those with even a basic understanding of Suicide Squad know that the theatrical release was severely altered by Warner Bros. without permission from Ayer, yet this hasn’t resulted in elevating Jared Leto’s divisive portrayal of The Joker to be seen more positively.

Enhancing that notion, the designer of End of Watch gifted us with an unpublished behind-the-scenes image. It appears as if the Joker is offering himself up to be part of a Beatles tribute band!

Rumors had circulated that Leto could make a return to the DCU after his cameo in Zack Snyder’s Justice League was highly acclaimed compared to his role in Suicide Squad, however it appears those rumors have been put to rest. On a positive note, if he desired, we do know he’d be up for the challenge of creating an entire concept album.
