We have no doubt that Disney and Lucasfilm executives scoured through thousands of talented actor auditions in order to find the perfect fit for the role of young Han Solo. While the role, ultimately, was filed with Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!), there is bound to be hours and hours of test footage from other auditions or, at the very least, there is 6 minutes of this hilarious spoofed footage from other failed auditions.
The Young Han Solo Audition Tapes aired on Conan this weekend. The spoof auditions feature some big names such as Melissa McCarthy, 50 Cent, Adam Sandler, Will Arnett and Bill Hader just to name a few. Each actor puts his/her own spin on to the audition monologue, leading to some absolutely hysterical moments.
Hader, who helped create the BB-8 vocalizations in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was first up to audition, trying out a number of impressions including a young Jabba the Hutt. Other standout highlights include McCarthy’s comical twist on the script, Sandler channeling Billy Madison and Will Arnett pulling out the Lego Batman voice as a last resort.
