A standalone Boba Fett film is actually happening, EW confirmed Thursday! This is a film that many fans can agree needed to happen-perhaps even more than a standalone Han Solo film. Also confirmed, Logan‘s James Mangold is writing and will direct the film.
We know his fate, but we know little about how he became a dedicated fighter alongside the powerful Darth Vader.
He first appeared in 1980’s Empire Strikes Back, and returned in Return of The Jedi, and rapidly became a cult favorite with his mysterious green helmet and armor. Anything else about him, we learned in the various merchandise, comics. One toy figure of featured character Boba Fett released in the 80s, is currently one of the most expensive and sought after collectible item in Star Wars existence.
Now, we are going to find out what happens in film form, when being eaten by the Sarlaac is just a glimpse in this bounty hunter’s eye.
You may remember that this project was originally also happening a few years back, but was tabled when Lucasfilm and Josh Trank, (Fantastic Four) who was set to direct it then, went separate ways.
Now, a day before Han Solo’s solo film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, is set to hit theaters, (it was originally supposed to be the one featuring Boba), Fett is getting another chance to have his day.
This isn’t even the only film in the works. They are working on an Obi-Wan Kenobi film as well as some other standalones-not to mention December 2019’s Episode IX.
Celebrate, bounty hunters, because our Star Wars cup runneth over.
After all…
