Star Wars: ‘Rogue One’ Spinoff Series Will Start Filming in October 2019

The upcoming TV Series spinoff of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story may begin filming in October of 2019, according to Production Weekly.

We don’t know much about the spinoff series from Lucasfilm, but with the new filming news, we can guess it will premiere sometime in 2020. So far, the description we have seen explains the series as, “The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire. A release date for the series has not yet been announced.”

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” he wrote. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

The series does not yet have a name, but will most likely be similar to The Mandalorian, which is already in production as of October of 2018. It’s set to hit Disney’s new streaming service, Disney +, in 2019.

The next film in the Star Wars lineup is Episode IX, which will hit theaters December 20th, 2019, and once that premieres, there are no other films in the works at least for a few years. It’s possible these series will be what Lucasfilm focuses on as Disney + makes its debut.
Stephen Schiff will serve as showrunner of the Rogue one series after experiencing a lot of success with FX hit, The Americans.
