‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Has Finished Filming

Filming for Star Wars: Episode IX, the last episode in the Skywalker saga, has officially wrapped today.

The news was confirmed by Director J.J. Abrams who took to Instagram to share the news. He also shared this photo of Daisy, John and Oscar sharing a group hug (are they on Jakku?).

Abrams added:

“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”

Boyega then shared the same image on his Instagram account, adding:

“the end to a chapter of my life that I couldn’t be more thankful for. What a process! It really has been a joy to be in these movies surrounded by amazing people.”

Production has taken place all over the world and has commenced for over five months, despite this, we still know very little, even with the limited leaks we got from the set. I applaud Disney and the crew for their secrecy, that’s right… looking at you Mark Ruffalo.

I think what is important to point out is that filming schedules are all over the place, so even with this first look at some of the costumes and a very limited peak at the setting, it is near on impossible to determine what part of the film this is. This could very well be the start, or it could be the end. However, it looks as though Rey has adopted a very similar type of costume consistent with the previous films, it has a very ‘Jakku’ feel to it. Daisy is also donning her stylish hair buns first seen in The Force Awakens.

With filming completed, all that remains is the mystery of the title. For the last two movies, The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, Lucasfilm announced the title of each movie just after production was completed. So, fingers crossed we get something soon.

But in the meantime, what are your guesses for the final Episode? Let us know in the comments below.
