Star Wars Celebration is Rumored to Reveal Not Just One New Movie, but Three!

Get ready, fans! Rumor has it that news of an exciting new Star Wars trilogy is set to be announced at the upcoming Star Wars celebration.

The rumor mill kicked off when Jeff Sneider on the Hot Mic Podcast suggested that Lucasfilm is gearing up to declare three fresh films during their London Star Wars event this April. After mixed reviews of the last episode in the sequel trilogy released back in 2019, it will be engaging to witness if Lucasfilm has sufficient trust in their new projects living up to fan expectations just like previous ones did.

“I am told that three movies, three movies will be announced at Star Wars Celebration….”

Rumors swirled that the initial Star Wars installment must meet a strict deadline if it wishes to secure Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy’s tenure. According to Jeff Sneider, if no Star Wars movie is released in or around December 2025, she will depart from her role.

“[The Sharmeed Obaid-Chinoy movie] is a big movie, not just for Star Wars, but for Kathleen Kennedy herself. So, I’m told that Kathleen Kennedy’s whole job depends on having a movie in theaters on Christmas Day 2025. If there’s no movie on Christmas Day 2025, there’s no job.”

During his interview, Sneider shared that the theatrical side of Star Wars was not managed well and this became evident when Victoria Alonso left Marvel Studios. He hypothesized why there had been so few updates on the new Star Wars project: because the first draft of these films were disappointing.

New Star Wars Movie to Follow 'Rise of Skywalker' and Begin New Trilogy

Previously, it was reported that a new writer had been hired to take over the Star Wars project after Damon Lindelof’s departure. Thankfully, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy – director of Ms Marvel – remains on board with the project.

The former writer stated that he and Justin Britt-Gibson stepped away from the project because executives felt it was necessary to guarantee that their next batch of Star Wars films were “great”, despite how demanding this task would be – especially in comparison to the success of acclaimed shows such as The Mandalorian and Andor.

Recently, it was confirmed that the upcoming Star Wars celebration will disclose not only the name of the next project but also its storyline. Yet, we are still left in mystery as to whether these new films shall be part of the Skywalker Saga or if they will move out and bring fresh faces from other parts of the Star Wars universe into spotlight.

The recently-released sequel trilogy of Star Wars is set thirty years after the original series and centers on a new generation of heroes, as well as depicting the collapse of the New Republic. It also includes some brief appearances from characters that were part of its predecessor.

If the whispers are accurate, devotees will have to watch closely and attend this year’s Star Wars Celebration at ExCeL London from April 7-10 to uncover more information about these highly anticipated films.
