Netflix may be bringing Avengers: Infinity War to their streaming catalog in December, but the ride is ending for one popular title. Sons of Anarchy will officially be taken off of Netflix on Saturday, December 1. The timing is quite unfortunate for fans who had decided to binge the Kurt Sutter motorcycle drama on the heels of its recent spinoff series Mayans MC, which premiered earlier this year.
They’re taking all of Sons of Anarchy off Netflix and I’m planning a riot so DM me if you wanna join.

Sons’ departure, however, doesn’t come as too much of a shock seeing that Netflix and Fox were unable to come to an agreement last year. Since 2017, many other Fox owned properties have been taken off the streaming giant such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, and The League. As of now, American Horror Story is safe.
Sons of Anarchy brought something completely unique to the FX lineup when it premiered ten years ago in 2008. The series followed the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle gang in the ironically named Charming, CA, through the eyes of their vice president – Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam). It focused heavily on the themes of brotherhood, redemption, and loyalty for seven seasons and people loved every second of it. Married With Children’s Katey Sagal gave a brilliant performance as Gemma Teller-Morrow, which landed her the Golden Globe in 2010 for the role. By the time that season 3 rolled around, Sons was FX’s highest-rated series, surpassing previous hits such as The Shield, Nip/Tuck, and Rescue Me.
The show was created by Kurt Sutter and featured an uber-talented cast including Hunnam, Sagal, Ron Pearlman, Kim Coates, Ryan Hurst, Theo Rossi, Mark Boone Junior, and Maggie Siff. It has since inspired a comic book, a novel series, a video game, and the Mayans MC spinoff series. Now, all we need is for Sutter to release John Teller’s manuscript The Life and Death of SAMCRO and all will be okay with the world.
The good news is that even though the series is leaving Netflix on December 1, all seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy are still available to stream for Hulu and Amazon Prime subscribers!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
