So far, it seems like fans have been receptive to Ryan Wilder played by Javicia Leslie! Ryan Wilder is the new Batwoman in the Arrowverse, and she’s been killing it so far. Batwoman recently wrapped up its second season, and now something big is happening with the Arrowverse’s Batwoman!
Something that Arrowverse fans might not be aware of is the fact that DC Comics recently introduced Ryan Wilder into comics! It’s doubtful that she’ll become Batwoman, since that role is still taken by Kate Kane, but it’s awesome nonetheless.
Ryan Wilder had a brief cameo in Batgirl #50, which was, funnily enough, the final issue of this volume of Batgirl! Ryan hasn’t been seen very much, if at all, since then so fans have been wondering what comes next for her! Now we have some kind of idea anyway!
Everything coming up is from Batman: Urban Legends #5, so if you want to avoid spoilers for this issue or series I suggest turning back now! If you don’t care, read on!
So, the issue is focused on the three Batgirls! Though they’re not really going by the title at the time, they all have at one point or another been known as Batgirl. Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown are sent out on a mission by Barbara Gordon, who is currently operating as Oracle.
Without giving too much away, or going into too many details, Cass and Steph end up coming to blows with Ryan, who avoids the fight completely. She eventually gets away and her motives are eventually revealed to be to serve justice.
So just like our new CW Batwoman, Javicia Leslie, this Ryan Wilder shares the same ideals and motives. She too is determined to take justice into her own hands, since she doesn’t exactly believe in the Police force…
For the record, Javicia Leslie went and tweeted about all this, too! Which is pretty awesome!
Something big is happening with the Arrowverse’s Batwoman in DC Comics, and we can’t wait to see what it is!
