‘Sicario’ Writer Taylor Sheridan and Angelina Jolie Team Up for ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’

If you enjoyed the debut season of Taylor Sheridan’s western drama Yellowstone starring Kevin Costner, there’s a new film coming out that will be right up your alley. This time though, it’s taking place in a different Yellowstone state and with a new Hollywood A-lister. According to The Hollywood ReporterSheridan is currently developing a new thriller starring Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie titled Those Who Wish Me Dead. Sheridan, who is also the mind behind features such as Sicario and Hell or High Water will be both writing and directing.

The film will be a loose adaption of Michael Koryta’s novel of the same name and will follow a teenage murder witness who finds himself pursued by twin assassins in the Montana wilderness alongside a survival expert tasked with protecting him…and a forest fire threatening to consume them all. According to the report, Sheridan’s take will be more female-driven and “a by-the-seat-of-your-pants chase movie.” It will be produced by Bron Studios alongside Steven Zaillian and Garrett Basch’s Film Rites.

Sheridan received an Academy Award nomination in 2016 for his writing of Hell or High Water and made his directorial debut with Jeremy Renner’s 2017 film Wind River. This past year he found both critical and commercial success with his Paramount series Yellowstone. The show was the most watched cable series of the summer and quickly received a second season pickup, which will wrap prior to Those Who Wish Me Dead’s production.

Angelina Jolie, who won the Academy Award in 2000 for her role in Girl, Interrupted, hasn’t appeared on the big screen since 2015’s By the Sea. She did reprise her voice-role of Tigress in 2016’s Kung-Fu Panda. Up next, she will be appearing in the sequel for Maleficient, which Disney will be releasing in 2020.
