The start of the New Year is looking incredibly good for Sherlock fans.

Benedict Cumberbatch will be back on our screens as the private detective (aka the highly functioning sociopath) on January 1, 2017, it has finally been announced.

The title of the first episode for season four has been revealed to be The Six Thatchers.

In an exclusive interview with AP, the Doctor Strange superstar denied reports that the popular show would be ending after the new season.

He said: “We love doing the show and all I’ll say about it is that we’re all very busy, we’re all doing other things now and you’ll have to see the fourth season to realise why, for now, it’s not going to happen again at the same regularity that it has been happening.

“But we’ll see, we’ll never say never and when it’s right, if its right, we’ll do more.”
