Shazam! Fury Of The Gods has already entered production, and no doubt the cast and crew are hard at work. They’re all working very hard to keep the movie’s secrets from us, even as we’re desperate for news! The director revealed something at least, claiming that the Shazam sequel is to be even bigger than the first one!
While it makes total sense that details on the film are being kept under wraps, it doesn’t make it less frustrating. To help alleviate some of that the film’s director, David F. Sandberg, has been sharing small tidbits with fans. During the weekend he hosted a Q&A on social media.
He answered questions about the film’s costumes, post-credits scenes, and a few other topics. One question involved the scope of the film, with a fan asking what we can expect in that regard.
The user in question, Ponysmasher, asked: “Will the scope of FotG be bigger than Shazam or is it relatively self-contained?”
To which the director replied “Scope is definitely bigger than the first movie”
This honestly shouldn’t be a surprise to DC fans. The first film detailed the origin of Billy Batson and how he got the powers of Shazam. The film was a highlight in terms of DCEU flicks. It was certainly a ray of sunshine in a cloud of darkness.
The new scope will certainly be aided by the fact that there should be multiple heroes. All of Billy’s foster siblings ended up with powers too, which could factor heavily into the film, and the DCEU as a whole.
For the record, each of those kids will be getting brand new super suits, which is pretty awesome all on its own. That was something else that Sandberg confirmed during his little Instagram Q&A.
Are you excited that the Shazam! sequel is to be even bigger than the first!?
