Sharon Stone Shares Her ‘Basic Instinct’ Audition Tape on Twitter

Sharon Stone is pretty much legendary within the film industry and her role in the film Basic Instinct was largely responsible for launching her career.

On Wednesday, Stone took a little walk down memory lane by tweeting a video showing her audition footage for the role.  In the clip, she is running lines with film director Paul Verhoeven who was reading the role which would be played by Michael Douglas.

Even in the audition footage, Stone is captivating as she completely embodies the personality of the character Catherine Tramell.  She flirts, flaunts, teases and stuns in the footage.  Check it out:

Basic Instinct premiered in 1992 and was surrounded by controversy due to the explicit nature of the film.  It stars Stone as Catherine Tramell, a writer, who is suspected of committing a murder.  Detective Curran (Douglas) pursues Tramell due to the eerie similarities that are discovered at the scene of the murder which bears a striking resemblance to a murder scene depicted in one of Tramell’s novels.

A few years back, Stone reflected on her role and the audition process in an interview for Oprah’s Master Class.  In the clip, Stone says, “It was not an easy part to get.  They offered it to 12 or 13 other women who turned it down. So it wasn’t like I got there and everyone was like, ‘Yay, she’s here!’ It was like, ‘Mm.’ But I knew walking on that set that I was enough.”
