See the First Twisted Trailer for ‘Killing of a Sacred Deer’

While we all like to think that we’re above revenge or seeking vengeance, it’s a common theme in film and television which we’re all drawn to. Do we relate to entertainment with those storylines because it draws us in, or is it because deep down…it shows characters living out scenarios where the good guy pulls through, even if it means he turns into the bad guy along the way.

Revenge is never a clean game, and in a new twisted trailer for Killing of a Sacred Deer it takes an incredibly dark turn. The trailer is set to a bone chilling rendition of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’ and it gives off one of those vibes that looks so crisp that it’s just…not normal.

A surgeon Steven Murphy (played by Colin Farrell) has a relationship with a young man Martin (played by Barry Keoghan) that could first be seen as semi-normal. However, as the trailer continues you understand that their bond isn’t based in friendship at all.

If anything, it’s a terrifying exchange between two people that you’d want absolutely no part in. Especially when Mr. Murphy, who has been trying to find out why his son is suffering paralysis, tells Martin that it’s nothing serious and is met with Martin assuring him that it is.

Seriously, it’s unnerving.

Not long after you learn that Martin’s father died, and Mr. Murphy says a surgeon can never kill a patient, an anesthesiologist can, but not a surgeon (he’s also very stressed).

So…about that revenge thing?

The trailer also shows Mr. Murphy’s wife Anna (played by Nicole Kidman) ask why she and her children have to suffer. Martin’s reply?

It’s the only thing I can think of that’s close to justice.

So there you have it, the trailer itself is creepy but the story as a whole is the kind of thing that gets under your skin and stays there. Obviously, we can’t wait to see it.
