Marvel’s Secret Invasion: Has Everett Ross Been a Skrull All Along?
Marvel Studios’ first series of the year, Secret Invasion, has finally been released on Disney+. The initial reactions have been positive, with many fans praising the show’s suspenseful plot and stellar cast.
One of the most talked-about moments from the first episode is the reveal that Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) may have been a Skrull all along. In the opening scene, Ross is seen getting intel from an agent who is startled by his presence. The agent tries to make his point about his intel on what the audience is supposed to assume is the Skrulls, but Ross shoots and kills him. As Ross takes his last breath, he transforms into a Skrull, leading many to believe that he was a Skrull in disguise.
However, it is also possible that Ross was simply killed by a Skrull who took his place. This would explain why the Skrull transformed into Ross after he died. It is also worth noting that the Skrulls have been known to impersonate other people in the past, so it is certainly possible that they have been impersonating Ross for some time.
Only time will tell what the truth is about Everett Ross. However, the reveal has certainly raised some interesting questions about the show’s plot and the Skrulls’ intentions. Secret Invasion is still in its early stages, so there is still plenty of time for the show to answer these questions.
In addition to Freeman, Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Carmen Ejogo, Christopher McDonald, Dermot Mulroney, and Killian Scott. The series is written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet, and directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim.
Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney+.
