Unlike other shows that have to wait it out until after their season airs in order to find out whether or not they will be continuing, History has already ordered 20 episodes for season 6. If we could, we would hug them right about now! The series will head back to Ireland to begin production in the fall.

In season 4, the show made a risky move by killing off one of its main and most beloved characters, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel). However, the cast that remains (or has shall we say survives) continues to tell their stories in such a rich and dynamic manner that it keeps our attention. The current cast consists of Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha), Gustaf Skarsgård (Floki), Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn), Alex Høgh Anderson (Ivar), Jordan Smith (Ubbe), and Marco Ilso (Hvitserk). The show also introduced Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Bishop Heahmund in the finale of season 4. We know he is sure to bring about some interesting drama in this new season.

According to Variety, the series creator and writer, Michael Hirst stated “It has been my pleasure and my privilege to work with History and our partner MGM over five seasons and 69 episodes of ‘Vikings.’ Now we are ready to begin production of a 20 episode season six that will deliver a huge and unexpected revelation to our audience.” We are not sure what that means for season 6, but we sure are excited!

If you haven’t checked out this show, we definitely put this in our category of binge-worthy shows and encourage you to check it out before its season 5 premiere on November 29.
