The Twin Peaks cast was on hand for a panel on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con. 25 years after the original series ended, it’s still being called one of the most influential in television history. During the panel moderated by Damon Lindelof, he credited the series with being a trailblazer for other shows such as X-Files, LOST, The Sopranos, Stranger Things, Fargo among others and, he’s completely right.
The Showtime drama follows an FBI murder investigation headed by FBI Agent Dale Cooper played by Kyle Maclachlan when homecoming queen Laura Palmer is murdered in the fictional town of Twin Peaks Washington. The series was created by David Lynch and Mark Frost.
Lynch was unable to attend the panel but sent a hilarious video to ensure that he was there in spirit. Cast members in attendance a the panel included Kyle MacLachlan, Tim Roth, Dana Ashbrook, Kimmy Robertson, Everett McGill, Matthew Lillard, James Marshall, Don Murray, and Naomi Watts. And an hour-long hilarious discussion of Twin Peaks began.
One of the highlights of the panel was when Naomi Watts and Kyle Maclachlan commented on how they were approached regarding the reboot. Both stories are endearing and, of course, involve coffee.
